It has excellent workability, and is very durable and slow to rot. Maple wood is light in colour and has a highly decorative wood grain. The combination of these two wood grains makes this chess board the perfect choice at an extremely moderate price.

This veneered chess board has a satin-like finish, giving a smooth touch to the boards and protecting chess players from light reflection. It will age very well possessing a fundamental quality that will last through the knocks of life that will inevitably occur.
